Kedumah 12 (1930) 168

Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh; they struck all the territory of the Amalakites; and also the Amorites who dwell in Hazazon-tamar. And the king of Sodom went forth with the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela, which is Zoar, and engaged them in battle in the Valley of Siddim. With Chedorlaomer, king of Elam; Tidal, king of Goiim; Amraphel, king of Shinar; and Arioch, king of Ellasar — four kings against five. The Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen wells. The kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled and fell into them while the rest fled to a mountain. The seized all the wealth of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food and they departed. And they captured Lot and his possessions, and they left; for he was residing in Sodom. Then there came the fugitive and told Abraham, the Ivri, who dwelt in the plains of Mamre, the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and the brother of Aner, these being Abraham's allies. And when Abraham heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his disciples who had been born in his house — three hundred and eighteen — and he pursued them as far as Dan. And he with his servants deployed against them at night and struck them; he pursued them as far as Hobah which is to the north of Damascus. He brought back all the possessions; he also brought back his brother, Lot, with his possessions, as well as the women and the people. The king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from defeating Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, to the Valley of Shaveh which is the king's valley. But Malchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine; he was a priest of God, the Most High. He blessed him saying - "Blessed is Abraham of God, the Most High, Maker of heaven and earth. And blessed be God, the Most High, Who has delivered your foes into your hand"; and he gave him a tenth of everything.

Kedumah 11 (1762) 165

So Lot raised his eyes and saw the entire plain of the Jordan that it was well watered everywhere — before Hashem destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah — like the garden of Hashem, like the land of Egypt, going toward Zoar. So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And he pitched his tents as far as Sodom. Now the people of Sodom were wicked and sinful toward Hashem, exceedingly. Hashem said to Abraham after Lot had parted from him, "Raise now your eyes and look out from where you are - northward, southward, eastward and westward. For all the land that you see, to you will I give it, and to your descendants forever. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth so that if one can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring, too, can be counted. Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth! For to you will I give it." And Abraham moved his tent and came and dwelled in the plains of Mamre which are in Hebron; and he built there an altar to Hashem.

And it happened in the days of Amraphel, king of Shinar; Arioch, king of Ellasar; Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Tidal, king of Goiim, that these made war on Bera, king of Sodom; Birsha, king of Gomorrah; Shinab, king of Admah; Shemeber, king of Zeboiim; and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. All these had joined at the Valley of Siddim, now the Salt Sea. Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and they rebelled thirteen years. In the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and struck the Rephaim at Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim at Shaveh-kiriathaim, and the Horites in their mountains of Seir, as far as the Plain of Paran which is by the desert.

Kedumah 10 (1597) 146

When the officials of Pharaoh saw her, they lauded her for Pharaoh, and the woman was taken to Pharaoh's house. And he treated Abraham well for her sake, and he acquired sheep, cattle, donkeys, slaves and maidservants, female donkeys, and camels. But Hashem afflicted Pharaoh along with his household with severe plagues because of the matter of Sarah, the wife of Abraham. Pharaoh summoned Abraham and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she is your wife? Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I would take her as my wife? Now, here is your wife; take her and go!" So Pharaoh gave men orders concerning him, and they escorted him and his wife and all that was his.

So Abraham went up from Egypt, he with his wife and all that was his — and Lot with him — to the south. Now Abraham was very laden with livestock, silver, and gold. He proceeded on his journeys from the south to Beth-el to the place where his tent had been at first, between Beth-el and Ai; to the site of the altar which he had erected there at first; and there Abraham invoked Hashem by Name. Also Lot who went with Abraham had flocks, cattle, and tents. And there was quarreling between the herdsmen of Abraham's livestock and the herdsmen of Lot's livestock — and the Canaanite and the Perizzite were then dwelling in the land. So Abraham said to Lot - "Please let there be no strife between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are brothers. Is not all the land before you? Please separate from me - If you go left then I will go right, and if you go right then I will go left."

Kedumah 9 (1451) 140

Hashem said to Abraham, "Go for yourself from your land, from your relatives, and from your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation; I will bless you, and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse; and all the families of the earth shall bless themselves by you." So Abraham went as Hashem had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. Abraham passed into the land as far as the site of Shechem, until the Plain of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land. Hashem appeared to Abraham and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to Hashem Who appeared to him. From there he relocated to the mountain east of Beth-el and pitched his tent, with Beth-el on the west and Ai on the east; and he built there an altar to Hashem and invoked Hashem by Name. Then Abraham journeyed on, journeying steadily toward the south.

There was a famine in the land, and Abraham descended to Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was severe in the land. And it occurred, as he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarah, "See now, I have known that you are a woman of beautiful appearance. And it shall occur, when the Egyptians will see you, they will say, 'This is his wife!'; then they will kill me, but you they will let live. Please say that you are my sister, that it may go well with me for your sake, and that I may live on account of you." But it occurred, with Abraham's coming to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.

The sons of Noah were Shem, Ham, Japheth, and Canaan. Noah, the man of the earth, started and planted a vineyard. He drank of the wine and became drunk, and he uncovered himself within his tent. Canaan saw his father's nakedness and told two of his brothers outside. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon both their shoulders, and they walked backwards, and covered their father's nakedness; their faces were turned away, and they saw not their father's nakedness. Noah awoke from his wine and realized what his small son had done to him. And he said, "Cursed is Canaan; a slave of slaves shall he be to his brothers." And he said, "Blessed is Hashem, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be a slave to them. May God extend Japheth, but he will dwell in the tents of Shem; may Canaan be a slave to them."

The sons of Ham - Cush, Mizraim, and Put. And Cush begot Nimrod. He was the first to be a mighty man on earth. He was a mighty hunter before Hashem; therefore it is said - "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before Hashem." The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh in the land of Shinar. From that land Ashur went forth and built Nineveh, Rehovoth-ir, Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah, that is the great city. And Mizraim begot Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, Pathrusim, and Casluhim, whence the Philistines came forth, and Caphtorim.

Canaan begot Zidon his firstborn, and Heth, and the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite, the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite, the Arvadite, the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. Afterward, the families of the Canaanites branched out. And the Canaanite boundary extended from Zidon going toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; going toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.

And to Shem, also to him were born; he was the ancestor of all those who lived on the other side; the brother of Japheth the elder.
